And Tennis Season Begins....

Sweet Return Connor!
I'm sure that was in!
AHS began the JV tennis season on the coldest and windiest day possible! It was so windy that the balls were flying all over the courts.  The boys spent a lot of time retrieving balls for other players because they kept blowing all over the courts.  Just when they thought they had the wind speed figured out a huge gust would blow through and mess them all up again. Connor had a rough start to the day but ended on a good note.  He got a taste of tough competition from some larger schools as he played #1 singles but it proved to be a good lesson over all.  Hopefully, the next meet will be much better weather wise and for Connor.

The Wichita Thunder

Wichita Thunder vs Tulsa Oilers

The Rogers treated us to the Wichita Thunder hockey game Friday night.  Now I must admit that I am not the biggest hockey fan in the world but there is something about being in an arena surrounded by fans yelling obscene things that brings out the inner redneck in me.  I was highly disappointed that there was only 1 fight last night and I missed most of it because I was digging in my purse for my camera so I could get a picture for the blog.  Needless to say, I wasn't fast enough and the refs had it broke up by the time my Kodak was ready to click.  BUMMER!!  Thanks Rogers for the great outing.  We enjoyed our visit!

Breckyn made a new friend.
We come in peace!
Stay out of Quin's way...he is one serious golfer!
Breckyn actually made a hole in one...that didn't seem to help her score though.
Connor is up for the challenge.  Zoom, zoom!

Happy B-day Snail!

WOW!  Cale is 14 and he is taking his driving test for a farm permit as I type.  Now, Aunt Kassi is a little nervous about this because I have vivid memories of myself driving country roads as a young teenager.  Needless to say, that leaves Breckyn as the only non driving Dunlap grandchild  (thank goodness) and she was quick to ask Connor for the driver's handbook last night when we got home from Cale's party.  I am pretty sure by the time her birthday rolls around in September she might have the entire book memorized!  I'll keep you posted on how the studying is going but now back to the b-day boy .... Happy Birthday Cale, drive safe and always know that we love you dearly.

From George to George

Bryan and I took the kids to the Eisenhower Center Sunday to go through the "Presidential Treasures" tour that the museum has on display.  One of my favorite "Treasures" was a letter written by Jackie Kennedy to President Eisenhower thanking him for sending a letter to JFK when he was in the hospital.  While looking at the Eisenhower family tree, Bryan showed the kids how they were DISTANT relatives of Ike on Grandma Dunlap's side.  Now that's pretty cool!

Excitement at School

Mrs. Hocker thought she had an unwelcome visitor trapped in her bathroom trash can this morning but thankfully it was only "Snowball" the gerbil who had escaped from the Special Ed. room a few days ago.  Ms. Sara came to retrieve the mischievous traveler.  I'm not sure who came up with the idea of making a rodent a pet but they seriously had something wrong with their thinking...that's just gross!  I think you can all feel my love for RATS!!
