Snow Day Fun

Breckyn and Mikiah had a lot of fun in the snow while taking pictures of each other.

I am loving the pictures the girls took out in the park. They had a great time and I am sure the whole neighborhood heard their giggles!

Aly's Winter Ball

Breckyn practicing for her future career!
When did my baby girls grow up to be such BEAUTIFUL young ladies?
Alyssa Marie and her date Matt.
Kenny Chesney said it right in his song "Don't Blink" because in a blink of my eye my girls have grown into wonderful young ladies that I am so proud of. Breckyn and I had a blast helping Aly get ready for her date to the Chapman Winter Ball last Saturday night and I was thrilled when she brought her date by so I could meet him. He must be a good sport to do such a thing! I had to smile and take a trip down memory lane as I watched Breckyn do Aly's hair as I remembered the numerous times that I curled my big sister's hair to help her get ready for dates in high school. Not to mention all the times I watched Breck and Al play dress up as little girls and put on fashion shows for me. Thanks Alyssa for letting us be part of your night. We are available whenever you need us! You looked gorgeous!

Connor's Summer Destination

Connor will be traveling with People to People
as a Student Ambassador to
the Land Down Under
EEK...15 days away from mom, dad and American apple pie!
It's every teenager's dream!
Maybe he will bring dad home another jar of Veg-a-mite? What did he actually do with the last jar that he was so determined to get his hands on? That should make for an interesting story to tell his host family. More posts to follow as he prepares for his 14 hour flight/15 day stay
abroad. Can a mother's heart really take this?

Jodi's Season

Happy Belated Birthday Jodi! This is one of the reasons I believe in "Seasons" - it's so the goodness can last more than one day. We had a great time last Friday night hanging out eating soup, yummy cake (baked by Nae) and watching a funny comedy show. Good friends, good eats, good times...life doesn't get much better than this!

Hangin' with Hannah

Life was GOOD on Saturday! Not only did I get to watch Coach Snyder and his boys put the hurt on those dirty birds, I got to hang out with Hannah for the first half of the football game. We had a great time cheering our CATS on despite the fact that we had to yell louder than ever because we were sitting right behind the KU band! Thanks Hannah, I had an awesome time. I'll trade seats with your dad any time!

Tis Bryan's Season

Happy Birthday Honey! Tonight we celebrated Bryan's birthday at his parents. As customary, we had yummy Baskin Robbins ice cream cake and pizza with the Dunlap crew minus Aly. Too bad you had to work Alyssa, dinner wasn't the same without you.

Happy Boo Day!!

The Kindergarten Teachers all dressed up as Junie B. Jones from her various books...
I was Junie B. Jones is a Dumb Bunny.
Breckyn helps Madison put on the finishing touches to her costume
before the middle school party.
Breckyn and her peeps...Chelsea & Mikiah - Chelsea and Breck both wore their
dad's old high school football jerseys to the party.
Quick don't look...here she comes with the camera! (Marcus, Kiah & Chelsea)
It's good to have a 16 year old in the house! I do believe the car is at maximum capacity.
Make room for Madison but remember don't make eye contact with the camera!
We had our annual Halloween soup supper last night. In addition, we watched a couple of great football games - Go Cats!!! - Quack, quack Ducks!!! and saw many FANTASTIC trick or treaters come to the front door. My friend Renae came to the realization as we sat and watched the younger kids trade Halloween candy and the older kids prepare to leave for a Halloween party that our lives have taken on a drastic change over the last few years. It was almost 8:00 pm and the "little" kids and adults were winding down for the evening and our "big" kids were just getting their evening started. Where have the years gone? We decided there was one perk to the passing of years when it came to trying to decide who was going to taxi the 5 middle schoolers to the party...Chances are next year Connor will make Halloween plans of his own!

Good - Bye AMS Volleyball

Great Season Ladies!
"Mine"
The Dynamic Duo - Breck and Kiah - Which camera do we look at?
Chances are Bryan and I have traveled to our last middle school sporting event to watch one of our own children. I am still trying to talk Breckyn into going out for track again but she's not all that interested at the moment. Hard to believe that one more chapter in the middle school years has been closed. I am very proud of Breckyn. She showed a tremendous amount of growth this season while having a lot of fun a long the way!

In Case You Need To Know....

M-16 Series, M4 Riffles, M9 Pistol, Machine Gun and Automatic Weapon Information
My friend Brandi and I took Breckyn for her 1st round of testing for her learners permit (we like to call it a pre-test in the Dunlap household...LOL) and we came upon this startling display outside of the National Guard Armory/Department of Motor Vehicles. Now not only is it unnerving enough to know that my youngest child is old enough to possess a drivers license but to throw in this much information about weapons that I can't even begin to imagine in my wildest nightmares is just too much for this girl to handle! I began to wonder if there is some type of symbolic representation going on here??? Wreck the car and ...... Be back by..... You had how many people in that car???? I don't know if I am ready for 2 teenage drivers but after thinking about it I wonder what the neighbors would think about a big red barrel in my front yard...could just be the new stress reliever I have been looking for! LOL The big question still lingers...WHY do we even need this information in the first place?? Anybody???

AMS Vocal Concert

AMS Select Choir
8th Grade Choir
Breckyn decided to join her friend Chelsea this year and try out for the AMS Select Choir. They practice during Star period each day. She seems to really be enjoying it and I am glad she finally decided to do it. In addition to that class she is in vocal for the 1st semester. I got to giggling when I looked through the pictures that I took the other night at the concert because there was not one decent one in the bunch. This was my favorite - Breckyn and Chelsea look thrilled to be there ( Chelsea did you fall asleep?) BUT it's a great picture of Isaiah - Brad's (Bryan's brother) nephew. The girls are going to ream me for posting this one. LOL!!

Hyllningsfest '09

Swedish Dancers - Seth and the 5th Grade Class
Swedish Dancer Rachel and the 2nd Grade Class
SVHS Viking Football Team Float - Ryan, Class of 2010
Politician Spencer working hard on behalf of the Republican Party during the parade.
My sister and family lives in Lindsborg, otherwise known as Little Sweden. Every two years the town puts on a Swedish festival called Hyllningsfest where they pay tribute to their Swedish forefathers who traveled to this great nation for a better life. My Great Grandfather and Grandmother Peterson where two of those very people. They did not settle in Lindsborg but I find it ironic that their Great Granddaughter lives there today. Swedish customs are dear to my heart because their daughter, my Grandma Schild passed down many Swedish customs and traditions to her heirs.

So, like any good aunt when asked the question by her nephew "Are you coming to watch me dance Aunt Kassi?" replied "I wouldn't miss it!" Rachel and Seth were adorable in their costumes, too bad you couldn't see them in the pictures because they were allowed to wear their coats due to the FREEZING temperatures. I am still in the process of thawing out but I wouldn't have missed it.

Glory Days

AHS - Class of 1986
Cowboy Football
Bryan is in the process of scanning all of our family photos. We have had a blast "strolling down" memory lane. I cracked up when he sent me these 2 photos at work today. That man would go back to high school in a minute if given the chance. Wasn't he a handsome young fella? I am sure you will be seeing more photos from the "Days of Dunlap Past" in the near future.

My mother - in - law hosted a pizza and cake party in my honor Wednesday night and it was YUMMY! Thanks Karen, you are the best! Thanks also to everyone else who has made this year's season a memorable one. I am truly blessed to have each and everyone of you in my life.

Slump

What does a girl do when she is in a slump? She chops off her hair that's what! Bryan left on Sunday to go to a conference. When he walked in the door on Wednesday night he had a "new" woman waiting for him. Surprise honey!!!

Volleyball Time

AMS Lady Longhorns

The 2009 volleyball season is off and rolling. So far we have been to Ft. Riley and Manhattan for a triangular and quad. The girls have taken some licks but walked away with at least one win in each town. I must admit that Breck has shown much improvement since last season. Way to go girl!

Labor Day Fun

Couples Golf at ACC
The Willeys and The Harms (aka The Competition)
Our partners where David and Jodi. I always knew that David and Bryan were a lot a like but today proved that point even more. We had a great time on the course and laughed til we cried.
Ground damage!
We shook the course with our screams of delight when Jodi chipped in on Hole 1. Way to go Girl...You ROCK!!

09-10 School Year has Arrived!

Eighth Grade here I come!
Two more years and counting!
I can not believe that Breckyn is in her final year of middle school and Connor is a Junior. It pains me to even say the word. Each year as I begin a new year with my Kindergarten students, I remember my own children as 5 year olds headed off to Kennedy. Where has the time gone?

Luck Be a Lady Tonight

Happy Birthday Corey!

Our good friends Corey and Shelia invited us to go the casino for Corey's birthday last weekend.  Shelia and I had a blast on the penny slots.  It is amazing how long one can play off of $1.00!  I walked away the big winner in the Dunlap household with a 2 cent profit..LOL!  I tried to get a picture of the birthday boy with all of his chips but I got busted by the pit boss who informed me that cameras weren't allowed on the floor.  Guess they weren't too concerned with the flashes going off at the penny slots...imagine that!

Giving God the Glory for All Creation

Breckyn and Connor each spent a week at Milford Lake for Church Camp during the last two weeks.   The kids sleep in tents, enjoyed water sports, hikes, paintball, etc. while growing in their faith as they connect with other youth from throughout Kansas and Colorado.  One of Bryan's classmates and her husband run the camp throughout the summer along with their children.  I giggled when Cheryl said to me that Breckyn was "totally Bryan in female form".  For someone who hasn't been around my husband in a good 20 some years, I thought her observation skills where right on target.  Praise be to God for all creations great and small!

Campus Life

Engineering Complex at KSU
Settling into dorm life.
Connor is spending the week at K-State at Engineering Camp.  He thinks he would like to pursue a career in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering.  We'll see what he thinks after this week!  They have some really neat things planned for them to do.  I can't wait to hear all about it.  I think Bryan would have stayed if he could have.  I kept having to remind him that he was too old to go to camp.... and stay on campus!
