Trip Down Memory Lane

I went to my dad's today to pick up meat and as a bonus he took the girls and I out for lunch at the best Mexican food joint in the entire world, Al's Cafe. After lunch, I couldn't resist showing Breckyn and Madison where I went to elementary school which just happened to be a block away from Al's.  During lunch I had told the girls that I remembered being a young girl and Al's being "the place" to go on Saturday nights. People would wait in line for what seemed to be hours to just get a table but the best part was that all the parents would let the kids go to the school playground to play while they socialized in line.  Seems like only yesterday, dad or mom would be yelling "Kim, Kassi.. !"  We'd know our table was ready and we'd come running.  I smiled when I saw that the old merry - go - round was still on the blacktop of good ole' Centre Elementary. It's nice to know that somethings haven't changed over time...even if it is a burrito and playground.

100th Day of Kindergarten

If you remember being in Kindergarten, then you probably know that the 100th day of school is a BIG deal.  I thought you might enjoy a couple of pictures of my friends at work counting 100 objects by groups of 10.  There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the joy and excitement on the faces of 5 and 6 year old children... so welcome to the Wonderful World of Kindergarten!

False Advertising

Something is wrong here... the picture on the box lead me to believe that these new "100 calorie" brownies were going to be a decent sized treat. (See the actual brownie on top of the middle picture).  Imagine my surprise when I opened the box and found that the brownie picture had been enhanced to lure unsuspecting dieters into thinking they were buying an actual brownie.  I am pretty sure Little Debbie just wrapped up the scraps that were cut away from the normal brownies and packaged them to sell to suckers like me!

You Wouldn't Believe It But...

DANGEROUSLY HIGH WINDS blew through my bedroom at 5:50 am this morning causing me to seek protection in my warm cozy bed. (see previous post)  Amazingly, the only aftermath of this tragedy was when Bryan asked me "Did your alarm go off twice this morning?"  To this I simply replied "yes".  Thank goodness he was still half asleep and did not proceed with further questioning.

At lunch today it came up that it takes a person 21 times of doing something for it to become a habit.  Since I have obviously mastered the habit of sleeping until the last possible moment each morning (or resetting my alarm so I can do this) it is time to form a new habit of actually getting out of bed and exercising before starting the day.  So tomorrow is Day 1 for Habit Exercise.... I wonder if Jullian and Bob would like to road trip off the ranch for 21 days and come visit me?  I mean give me a break, even Oprah has Bob Greene when she has fallen off the wagon!

Which One Will It Be?

My alarm is set and my clothes are laid out but I am still pondering which form of torture I am going to inflict upon myself in the wee hours of the morning.  I have officially decided that tomorrow morning is the beginning of the "turning over a new leaf" phase of the non existent exercise portion of my life.  As you can see by my collection of torture tapes, I have turned numerous "leaves" over in my life but somehow mighty winds have come and blown them far, far away.  But not this time - BRING ON THE WIND -  I"LL BE READY!  Care to join me?

Purse Swap... Month 2

I know you have been anxiously waiting to see what the "purse of the month" would look like so here it is!

Preparing For Food Swap

Bryan helped me this weekend by cooking up 22 lbs of hamburger (yes, 22 pounds) to make this months meals for food swap.  He was so organized that I slowed him down by not mixing up the casseroles fast enough!

New Years Eve

Rockin'  Hays Style
The Dunlap family spent the last night of 2008 in Hays with Renae's family.  Her cousin Chad put on an EXCELLENT show!  I do believe that Bryan has found his long lost soulmate in Renae's brother in law, Chris.  The two boys where quite the pair all evening long.  Thanks Dana and Chris, what a great way to ring in 2009.

Christmas....Act 4

Who said glasses were only good for seeing with?
Aunt Kim liked her new CD.
There was a little bling under the tree for me.  Thanks Mom!
After years of asking for a chainsaw, Spencer finally got his wish.  What was Grandma Mary thinking?  I hope she included a gift certificate to the ER with it!
